Mother of five dies after suspected Brazilian butt lift procedure in UK
London: Tributes have been paid to Alice Webb, 33, believed to be the first person in the UK to die after undergoing a suspected Brazilian butt lift procedure. Webb, a mother of five, became ill and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where she passed away early Tuesday. Gloucestershire police confirmed she had undergone a “suspected cosmetic procedure” before her death, leading to the arrest of two individuals on manslaughter charges.
Friends of Webb launched, then closed, a fundraising campaign for her family, revealing that she had undergone the cosmetic procedure. Brazilian butt lifts involve injecting fat or dermal fillers into the buttocks to enhance volume.
Ashton Collins, director of Save Face, a UK cosmetic practitioner accreditation body, expressed sorrow over Webb’s death, calling it preventable. Collins described the procedure as a “crisis waiting to happen” and highlighted the growing number of complications associated with it.
Save Face has been assisting over 500 women who have faced health issues after similar treatments. Collins warned that these procedures, often marketed as “risk-free,” pose significant dangers. She urged individuals to avoid them, citing the high risk of sepsis and the need for corrective surgeries.
